At this NHS pharmacy we are able to provide this vital test in order for you to obtain a PCR Travel certificate.


Why do I need a test and certificate?

As travel restrictions are constantly evolving, more and more countries and airlines now require Travel PCR certificates to gain access to their country as well as the airline itself.

Some employers now require this certification to allow employees to continue their role.

What is the name of the test?

Covid-19 RT-PCR test. (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Test)

What does the test do?

The Covid-19 PCR swab test will test if you currently have the coronavirus. This is done by taking a swab of the nose and the back of the throat. It detects if there is viral genetic material present.

Where can I have it done?

In – Pharmacy testing The sample is taken by our trained pharmacist or other healthcare professional in the pharmacy consultation room. The result is then sent off with our private courier to reach the laboratory on the same day. The laboratory will inform you of the result with a certificate by 1pm the following day.

When should I have it done?

Airlines usually request passengers produce a negative result on their certificate with a date that is within 2-5 days of boarding. Timing is crucial. Each country has varying border entry requirements. Due to the constantly evolving nature of the pandemic and entry requirements it is vital you check the latest guidance for your destination. Tests once completed are sent off using our private courier service. They are received by the laboratory on the same day. On receipt the lab will process and deliver your lab result and certificate within 24-36 hours via email. Most often results are returned the following day the test has been performed in our pharmacies. Please note it is your responsibility to check the

  • Travel requirements of the airline and country you are travelling to
  • Time frame required for the result by the airline and country
  • Type of test needed for each country
  • Type of laboratory required to complete the test
How accurate is the test and the Laboratory anaylsis?

The test is CE marked and IVD Government approved with 100% sensitivity and 99.4%specificity. Test results are close to 100% accurate. The laboratory is ISO 17025 compliant.

Who carries our laboratory tests?

Samples are analysed by Salient Laboratories. They are ISO 17025 complaint.

What if I test positive?

Your result will be reported to the UKHSA. Please follow current government guidelines
